Creative Writing Workshop

In this two-week immersive virtual workshop, groups of 2-3 students will work through the process of publishing a digital ebook. First, students will be exposed to brainstorming strategies and graphic organizers to develop their own unique character and their character's personality traits. Based on this character, they will outline a problem and solution story arc before diving into their drafts. Along the way, students will also review verb tenses, descriptive language, and figurative language to enhance their work. Finally, they will create or select thoughtful illustrations to complement their writing, and participate in a virtual book launch with their classmates to celebrate their hard work! This class is recommended for ages 7-12; students may be grouped with classmates of different ages or grade levels, though we have thoughtfully designed our curriculum to be easily differentiated so that the content is accessible and engaging for multiple levels of learners.
